The House Stacks the Rules Again

So the U.S. House of Representatives votes to remove warnings from food labels, thus overturning 200 individual state laws - you know, I remember when the Republicans used to be all about State Rights - whatever happened to those guys? Oh yeah - they got in power...

The thing that burns me about this is the hypocrisy of the Right here - they preach against overregulating the market using the mantra that an informed consumer will make intelligent choices and thus weed out businesses that make bad decisions, and then they make it impossible for me to be informed!

You know, call me a Communist, call me a Blogging Dipper, heck - call me crazy, but hey, if my bottled water contains arsenic, I'd like to know about it.

Great post, Dan. You have highlighted one of the major weaknesses in the market system - it sells itself by offering choice, but makes profits best by keeping the buying public uninformed.
