Gretzky won't face criminal charges

I know, it's not part of the general gab on this blog, but I just had to posit the following question:

Who ever thought this headline would ever be written?

It's them American women, I tell you!

Rex Murphy has a good bit to say on this at the CBC website, namely that unlike most other celebrities/atheletes, Gretzky's always kept a clean-cut image about him, he's never been caught with hookers, he's never cheated on or assaulted his wife, never took steroids - all he's ever done in public is play hockey, and play it well. And yet, because of a peripheral connection to a gambling scandal, the press is jumping on him like he's Dick Cheney on a hunting trip.
