I thought he already had a steady pay cheque...

Maybe I'm just being naive, but I was surprised to find out that the premier of New Brunswick receives a pay cheque from the Progressive Conservative party as well as his "regular gig" pay. Is this the usual thing? Do other provincial and federal leaders or MLAs and MPs receive such pay?

Well, IIRC, when Clyde Wells took over the Liberal Party Leadership in Newfoundland years ago, the Liberal Party paid him an additional salary, but that was because he'd given up a thriving law practice to do so, and the money was to top up his earnings. I don't really think this applies here - but, really, Kev? How do you expect poor Bernie to survive on a mere 115K a year?
