An Interesting Essay on the War on Drugs

As the title says, an interesting statement from a military man on "The War on Drugs' taken as a military perspective. Makes some valid points too - especially with the comparison with Vietnam - essentially they're the same, in that they're open-ended with no possible victory solution beyond a Mexican Standoff.

Sort of like the "Global War on Terror", no?

Not really - my take on it is the Global War on Terror is more akin to the Cold War.

I disagree. The Cold War was intranational and this one is not - there are no countries that openly support "the terrorists". This appears to be a war against a battle tactic and makes absolutely no sense IMO.

Good points, Kev, although what I meant was that I view the War on Terror as a clash between 2 opposing idealogies
