Bad Samaritans?

So HR 4437, which was passed in Congress last December to deal with illegal immigration, would not only put a 700km fence along the 2000 km U.S./Mexico border, would not only beef up Border Patrols, but would make it a criminal offense to offer humanitarian aid to an illegal immigrant.

Okay, if there are any American Christians reading this - I was raised in the Roman Catholic faith, I attended Catholic school from Kindergarten to Grade 11, I was an Altar Boy, my grandfather even hoped I would become a Priest (you stop laughing, Kev!). So I have to ask:

When did the Parable of the Good Samaritan get punted out of the Bible?

When did Charity get dropped from the 3 Cardinal Virtues?

Is the fight against Same-sex Marriage really that important that you've forgotten that a Tenet of the Christian Faith is to help your fellow man?

Not to condemn everyone - some groups have opposed this - The Union for Reform Judaism, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Cardinal Roger Mahoney of Los Angeles has even called on all priests and bishops to 'not observe this law'. And to them - I say kudos. Bravo for remembering in this Lenten Season that Christianity is supposed to be about - you know, helping people. And as for those Evangelicals who kept silent because they didn't want to appear 'too liberal' - He's keeping a list - don't you worry

It doth hightlight the Republican's concern for the little man, doesn't it?

Well, as long as it's a little white protestant man - yes

Ah, Paul, you are now probably beginning to see that "moral fibre" is just a campaign construct used as a marketing tool. The goal being to ssociate morals and ethics with the Republicans and demonizing Democrats as pot-smoking draft dodgers.

Whether or not the party is actually ethical or not makes no difference - it's the slogan and logo that count.
