If anyone was wondering about why the Democrats can't win anything...

...it's because they're fucking cowards

As Flash announced earlier today, the Democrats surprisingly dropped a testicle when Russel Feingold introduced a motion to censure President Bush over his role in the illegal domestic wiretapping program. Don't worry, the sun will rise tomorrow; the Democrats have proved their worth. While it hasn't actually gone to vote yet, but according the ABC News report:
Feingold's Democratic colleagues gave him tepid support at best. Instead, they spent the day attacking the White House's budget for cutting programs that help fund police and firefighters...
Yes, you read that right, "fellow" Democrats ran from the issue, because regardless of whether it is right or wrong, or whether it indeed does illegally infringe upon the Constitutionally-protected right to privacy, because

...most polls show a majority of Americans support the domestic spying program

No, don't go after the president on principle, chase the polls! Is there any wonder that the American public won't vote for these clowns? Joseph Lieberman suggested that rather than censuring the president, the American public would rather see them "solve the problem". Apparently the best way to do that is to ignore it and talk about municiple funding issues when someone does bring it up.

In fact, the Republicans are so sure the Democrats won't support it that Bill Frist actually tried to force the vote today, knowing that it would receive fewer than 15 of the 44 Democrat votes. Let's see, that is only 34% of the Democrat senators (maximum!) would vote to censure Bush at a time when only 34% of the American public think he's doing a good job!

And here's the real kicker:
In the unlikely scenario that Feingold's censure resolution actually passes, it would simply be a written rebuke with no further ramifications for Bush.

So the Democrats refuse to pass a motion of censure against the president after he dragged them into a war on false pretenses, destroyed the financial credibility of the federal government, broke every international treaty he could get his hands on, and wiretaps innocent civilians without court approval, even though it would only result in a written rebuke?

Russ Feingold is apparently considering a run for the Democratic leadership in '08. Word up, Russ - don't bother, they'll be too scared of you. They're going to play it nice and safe with a Republican-light tail-chaser like Lieberman or Kerry. Man what have these jokers come to?

Dude - C'mon, this surprises you? Look who you were quoting - Lieberman! Lieberman's about as Democratic as Rush Limbaugh. Besides, as I pointed out previously - that's about the same percentage of Dems that caved and voted for the Patriot Act renewal. Like I said before, it's all Adam Sorkin's fault - if he hadn't created the West Wing, Democratic voters wouldn't have had that fantasy world to escape to and they would have actually had to confront that their party was a bunch of wusses.
